Compensation & Partnership

At Edward Jones, we realize that building your business takes time. To help you as you build your business, we offer a program designed to give you support during your initial training and throughout your first years as a Financial Advisor.

Our Financial Advisor compensation and benefits package may include:

Trainee Pay & Salary
During the four months you spend studying for your industry licenses and completing your training, you will be paid biweekly for the hours worked. Your hourly rate will be based on your experience and income prior to joining the firm. Your salary amount will adjust as you move toward a compensation based more on commissions and bonuses. Salaries are adjusted based on performance standards for the first two years. By the third year, you typically have built a steady book of business and will transition away from a salary. A Talent Acquisition team member will discuss your pay in more detail as you progress through the hiring process.

Commissions
During your first three years as a Financial Advisor, commission payouts will vary based on years of experience, the state in which your branch is located and the type of product.

Bonuses
You have the potential to receive several bonuses throughout the first few years while you build your professional practice, including:

  • Bonuses for completing training and obtaining licenses.
  • Milestone bonuses - cash bonuses paid every four months to Financial Advisors whose performance is 75% or more of standard. Financial Advisors whose performance is 100% or more of standard may receive an enhanced milestone bonuses.
  • New asset bonuses - cash bonuses paid monthly, based on the accumulation of new assets.
  • Deferred bonuses earned and paid every four months in years four, five and six based on new assets gathered in the first three years.
  • Profitability bonuses earned and paid by trimester, based on branch and firm profitability.

Profit Sharing
Historically, approximately 24% of the firm’s post-bonus profit is contributed to a firm profit-sharing plan. Your profit-sharing benefit is based upon up to and including $245,000 of your earnings. A cash bonus is paid at the same rate as the profit-sharing rate for that year for any earnings in excess of $245,000. As an Edward Jones Financial Advisor, you are 100% vested in your profitsharing account from day one.

Travel Program
The Edward Jones Business Diversification Program recognizes Financial Advisors who build and run successful businesses by offering a broad array of products and services to our clients to help them reach their financial objectives. There are two opportunities to qualify for trips each year. You also may combine the two into one “Super Trip.” Destinations include world-class resorts in places such as Hawaii, Switzerland, the Caribbean, Africa and Paris, to name just a few. All trips include your spouse or domestic partner. A unique aspect of our trips is that you may bring your dependent children or parents on designated family trips. All Financial Advisors who meet the criteria qualify for a trip. There is no limit on the number of Financial Advisors who can participate. Trip values typically average $5,500 for two people or $11,000 for a “Super Trip.” Please note that the value of the trip is taxable.
